Start of basketball Euroleague

November 2nd, 2007 · 2 Comments

Year is around, and Basketball Euroleague started again. On 1st of November 2007, Union Olimpija was playing their first home match in Tivoli Arena.

After first match against Montepaschi Siena, which Olimpija lost badly, noone was expecting much for second match, this time against Olympiacos. But Tivoli Arena was full, fans were loud, Olimpija was playing good, and on the end they beat Olympiacos 87:78.

On the other side, our working conditions were a bit worse then last year. They put another few seats on sidelines, so we have less space, then we had last year. Now we are standing behind first line of seats, but considering price of those seats, I actually understand pretty good, they rather sell few additional seats, then give us more space. To be honest, we still have enough space to work from, but it was so nice to seat :)

But to look on this from more positive side, they did good job protecting our health :) After about one hour of seating almost on ice, your butt was almost frozen. Olimpija is playing Euroleague matches in big Tivoli arena, where field is put on top of ice ring. Of course there is some isolation and stuff, but after hour or so, it was still quite cold. This year, we don’t have such problems anymore, and our butts are greatfull. Unfortunately I can’t say same for my legs, and especially my back, but I will survive :)

funny, how different can be temperatures in the same arena … your legs were (almost) frozening, but up on the stands it was quite hot….hot temperatures and hot cheering

but it was a great game wasn’t it?

Yes Nina it was great game. I didn’t really see all that much of game itself. Once you follow action through camera’s viewfinder, you are not really able to concentrate much on game itself.
But nevertheless it was still great game, and it was good home start for Olimpija, after quite bad match against Siena.
And once again, atmosphere in Tivoli was great. :)
