European soccer championships in Austria and Switzerland, road cycling race Tour de Slovenie, 24 hours of Le Mans, and Formula 1 race were events which I saw, and at least for soccer, I still see only through computer screen and not through the lens.

For all those matches and races, I was just editor, dealing with captioning, sending photos to right places and so on. Believe me, it’s not fun. It’s much more fun to actually grab camera go out, even if it’s raining, and shoot those matches. But sometimes, there’s just no other way.

So it felt pretty good to be finally able to go to some shooting on Saturday. Day of Nordic walking in Bled, Slovenia, with Slovenian president Mr. Danilo Turk and Finnish ambassador in Slovenia, Mrs. Birgitta Stenius-Mladenov, is not something I would normally jump in the air of happiness, if I could shoot it. But now, it was perfectly fine, just that I could get out and do some shooting :)
Day of Nordic walking in Bled
So I picked my kit, put on running shoes, squeezed in rain cover just in case, and off we were to Bled. Weather forecast was far from perfect, but at the end, we did fine. Rain slowly started to fall only when we were almost on the end of the walk.

Mr. president and Mrs. ambassador were keeping tempo high, so it was a bit different then most of us expected. Almost running (for us, other’s were “just” walking) from one side of lake to the other with all your gear and taking photos in between is not quite so easy. So on the end, we were sweating, and we were happy it was over :)

On way from one side of the Bled lake, to the other, we stopped also in Zaka, where Mr. Turk presented medals to winners of double scull men race of 53rd International rowing regatta in Bled, Slovenia.

So next to nordic walking, we go another thing to shoot at same minute :) Even if weather was not perfect, and even if I normally don’t like to shoot stuff like this, I was happy on the end, just that I could get some shooting instead of just editing photos. And when Euro 2008 will be over, I surely won’t miss it at all.
