First race of UCI Road cycling World Championships in Varese, Italy, is over. And problems just begun. I should get used to this already, but obviously I’m surprised every time again and again. I don’t know, is it so fucking hard to provide us with normal working conditions? I mean, we are not asking for much… table, very little, preferably dry space, and fucking internet. WORKING ONE! In ideal world it would be even fast. I don’t remember any cycling race, where at least this last part would be fine. Everything else is more or less ok, but really… is too much to ask for working internet?
So instead of sending photos, I’m pissed like hell writing this lines… in text editor on my laptop of course! In moments like this, I’m not really complaining I need to pay 20eur for day of Internet on Austrian skiing World cups. At least I get blazing fast upload for those 20eur, and IT’S WORKING ONE goddamn. But to look on World from bright side, at least I didn’t need to pay for this crap here. Sometimes I really wish UCI guys would once in their life crawl out of their hole and go to see how things are done in normal world. I’m not saying FIS is perfect, but compared to UCI, they are true pearls, and I’m really glad I cover way more skiing then cycling!
But enough of complaining and let me write something about today’s day. As I wrote in previous post, it started crappy. It was raining badly, and look to the sky didn’t reveal any blue sky. But about hour before start, rain stopped, and slowly sun peeked through the heavy clouds. When time for start came closer, sun was shining already, and I was putting my rain coat (big thanks to guys at Finnish ski jumping team for this… it really is priceless in weather like this :) ) to backpack. In next half an hour I was sitting on side of road in t-shirt only. Race on itself was short, with just a bit over 60 people on start. So in about 2 hours, everything was over. And luckily I found nice spot, so photos are pretty cool too.
Now, I’m slowly giving up my waiting, so I will pack this stuff, drive to hotel, pay 7eur/hour of hotel internet and send those photos. Obviously it will be much faster then waiting for this completely clueless “technicians” here in press center.
